ARCHERY CLUBS IN HEREFORDSHIRE
The Clubs
There are three Archery GB affiliated archery clubs in Herefordshire, Bromyard Bowmen, Hereford Company of Bowmen and Ledbury Archery Club. The latter is the youngest club in the county having only been formed in 2011. Hereford Company of Bowmen have now settled into their new home at Luctonians sports ground. Bromyard Bowmen enjoy their own dedicated indoor shooting hall which is very useful with our British climate! It also means that their Beginners Courses can take place throughout the year regardless of the weather.
Joining a Club
Before you can join any archery club you must first go on a beginners course. Bromyard’s courses, for example, are usually conducted over three consecutive Saturday mornings in their indoor shooting hall. Successful completion of a beginners course will allow you to join any Archery GB club in the country.
Choosing which Club to Join
When choosing your club remember that Herefordshire is quite spread out. Travelling a long distance to a club session 2 or 3 times a week, the miles can add up!

With a wide spectrum of ages, Bromyard Bowmen has a membership spanning archers from eight to eighty. Our members shoot a mixture of bow styles including Recurve, Compound and Longbow both recreationally and competitively.
Junior members are encouraged to participate in the EAF Rose Awards and Archery GB Junior Award Schemes.
Coaching, including video analysis, is freely available.
For those interested in competing, they can enter tournaments which are held regularly in the area. Our members also enjoy participating in other fun events such as Clout Shoots and Inter-club tournaments.

Outdoor Shooting
Bromyard Bowmen shoot at the Clive Richards Sports Ground on the Tenbury Road just out of Bromyard, Herefordshire. We shoot on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30pm and Sunday from 2pm during the Summer Season (May-September). Winter Season are the same timings but we use the indoor shooting hall.
Indoor Shooting Hall
Bromyard Bowmen’s purpose built hall was constructed in 2001/2 by the members. The wheelchair accessible hall is permanently setup with foam targets. It is well lit and has a full width foam backstop wall. It supports ten shooting positions at distances up to 25m. Along with this is a meeting area, equipment bench and tea/coffee making facilities.
